The Minister of Innovation and Growth welcomed a delegation of 15 innovative companies from the USA to the Ministry of Innovation and Growth
At the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, we work to attract investors in sectors that create high added value for the Bulgarian economy. Since the beginning of the year, 23 investment projects for BGN 251 million and over 1,500 planned new jobs have been certified under the Investment Promotion Act, 19 of which are related to high technologies. This was stated by the Minister of Innovation and Growth, Milena Stoycheva, at a meeting at the Ministry with the Ambassador of the USA, H.E. Kenneth Merten and a delegation of 15 innovative companies from the USA.
Among the represented sectors were healthcare, defense, information and communication technology, renewable energy sources, finance and insurance, bioeconomy and biotechnology, construction, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, cyber security and more. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Ministers of Innovation and Growth, Veselina Mincheva and Martin Gikov, and the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, Mila Nenova.
“Bulgaria is a good place for investment and creation and development of innovations. We have macroeconomic and financial stability and we are a leading destination for attracting investors in the region,” Minister Stoycheva said. She stated that Bulgaria has talents for the development of high technologies, stressing that our country ranks third in the world in terms of IT specialists per capita.
“The entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bulgaria is very well developed and one of the priorities of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth is to support and encourage it. We are working to create a basis for interaction between large companies and startups, which will increase their competitiveness,” Stoycheva pointed out. The Minister of Innovation and Growth presented the Ministry of Innovation and Growth priorities for promoting innovation in high technologies, artificial intelligence, the automotive sector, healthcare, culture and creative industries, microelectronics and mechatronics, the space sector, etc.
“The signing of the “Artemis Accords” between the Ministry of Innovation and Growth and NASA is coming soon and it will provide Bulgaria with an additional positive signal to our international partners about the importance we attach to the further deepening of our strategic partnership in the field of space technologies,” said Minister Stoycheva.
The US Ambassador H.E. Kenneth Merten stated that the Ministry of Innovation and Growth was an active participant in the Strategic Dialogue between Bulgaria and the USA in September and that the arrival of the delegation of innovative companies was a result of the good cooperation between the two countries.
