The Minister of Innovation and Growth, Milena Stoycheva, and the Ambassador of Great Britain in Bulgaria, Rob Dixon, discussed cooperation in the field of innovation and investment between the two countries. Minister Stoycheva and H.E. Dixon confirmed that they will work to deepen the good partnership between Bulgaria and Great Britain in the fields of education, scientific and development activities and the development of Bulgarian business by connecting the entrepreneurial ecosystems in both countries and attracting investments. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, Prof. George Angelov, and the head of the commercial department of the British Embassy, Tim Buisseret.
“The Ministry of Innovation and Growth aims to rebrand Bulgaria as a place where the new wave of innovation is developing. We believe that on the basis of scientific and development research and interaction between business and academia, innovative products and services with high added value for the Bulgarian economy can be created,” Minister Stoycheva said during the meeting. According to her, Bulgaria and Great Britain can exchange experience and good practices in terms of technology transfer and commercialization of research activities.
Ambassador Dixon said that in the UK, research and development is central to the development of technology, and academia and business work together to drive innovation into industry. According to him, Bulgaria and Great Britain can work together to create a favorable environment both for the development of Bulgarian business in the United Kingdom and for attracting investors from the Island in our country.
During the meeting they also discussed further deepening of cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, microelectronics, mechatronics, the automotive sector, as well as the potential of innovation in the creative and cultural industries.
