The Minister of Innovation and Growth and her team were heard in the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation in the National Assembly
The Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva outlined the vision of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth and presented the five key priorities for the first 90 days to the people’s representatives in the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation in the National Assembly.
“We are about to make an assessment and a thorough examination of the situation we have inherited. We envisage a series of concrete measures through which we will implement the priorities identified in our management program”, said Minister Stoycheva to the people’s representatives. She emphasized that among the main priorities for the Ministry are building a sustainable basis for the development of the entrepreneurial and startup ecosystem, as well as creating opportunities to stimulate key sectors with high added value, based on research and development, technology transfer and education.
Turning Bulgaria into a destination for high-tech investments and intellectual capital was also highlighted by the Minister of Innovation as a priority.
“We need to optimize the toolkit, through the InvestBulgaria Agency, The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, Sofia Tech Park, Fund Manager of Financial Instruments in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Development Bank for the implementation of key policies in the direction of green, digital and a socially just transition,” Stoycheva also said in the portfolio committee.
As the fifth point of the priorities, the Мinister announced the creation of a favorable environment for sustainable economic growth, including all interested environments according to the so-called „open innovation“ model.
In response to questions from the people’s representatives, the Minister of Innovation explained that after an assessment and in-depth analysis of the current situation and agreement on the prepared management program at the level of the Council of Ministers, specific actions and defined evaluation indicators will be taken.
