Deepening of cooperation in the field of investments and trade-economic relations was discussed by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Assoc. Professor Rosen Karadimov and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to our country H.E. Mehmet Sait Uyanik at a working meeting today at the Ministry.
During the meeting, Minister Karadimov pointed out that Turkey is among the leading foreign trade partners of Bulgaria and emphasized the high activity of Turkish investors in our country. He stated that a total of 960 new jobs are to be created by two Turkish companies.
At the end of August, the Council of Ministers approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the government and “Smart Solar Technologies” for the implementation of the priority investment project “Factory for the production of solar panels and cells”. The project will be implemented in the village of Elenino, Stara Zagora municipality.
The decision also creates an interdepartmental working group to ensure institutional support in the implementation of the investment. Construction of a new factory for the production of solar panels and cells is planned. The amount of the investment is BGN 240 million and more than 800 jobs are expected to be created.
A certificate was also issued for a priority investment project “Expanding the product mix by installing a continuous casting line, profile production lines, a universal foil press and related facilities” of the company Alcomet a few months ago. The investment in Shumen is over BGN 136 million and 160 jobs are expected to be created. The investment project is related to the expansion of the existing production in the plant and the product range of new products to meet the current market demand.
During the meeting, the opportunities for investment promotion by the Ministry of Innovation and Growth and for certified projects under the Investment Promotion Act were outlined.
Emphasis was also placed on the good cooperation between the two countries and future joint initiatives for the development of enterprises.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Krasimir Yakimov, the Head of the Political cabinet Mariya Petrova and the trade advisers from the Turkish embassy in Bulgaria.
